Tuning: What do stiffer springs really do? Stiffer springs don't change the top speed, but they drastically improve acceleration. Later engagement: The engine has to rev higher before the friction plates engage the bell housing. Power start: You start off in a rev range where the 2-stroke engine already has more horsepower and torque. The effect: No more "rubber band effect" when starting off.
