Das Boot Diorama Box U96 realistic Figures - no epoxy - Aluminium water - Revell 1:144

A maritime water diorama without expensive epoxy or UV-resin. Just Aluminium foil, varnish, colors and cotton. And a few other things along with the 40th anniversary Edition of U 96 "Das Boot" by Lothar Günther Buchheim. The Box was made because of the delicate nature of this model. The periscopes are retractable and the net-cutters are very sensitive. So I wanted a lid for easy transportation and to protect it from dust, pets and other potential hazards. However you will absolutely start to HATE these awful, indignifying machines built entirely for human misery. The movie only gives a glimpse of what it was like - especially the vile and disgusting odors coming from the machines, men, rotten food, stale bilge water and soiled clothes. Yet the technology of the boat itself is truly fascinating. The movie (full 5 hour TV-series version - NOT the 3 hour director's cut) is also one of the best movies of all time! And (just like lord of the rings) a perfect medial interpretation of the actual book. Totally worth watching .
