The Metro Gold Line is Here!

On March 22nd, 2025, Metro Transit opened the Twin Cities first real Bus Rapid Transit line. I don’t count the orange and red lines or the letter routes for reasons that I’ve already written about at extreme length, links below. TLDR, its the first one that actually has bus lanes for more than a few short segments. In fact something like 70% of the route is on a fully grade separated busway, with side running lanes in downtown St Paul and a few other spots on top of that. Of course, I spent a good chunk of opening day riding the entirety of the route while enjoying the pre-planned festivities, socializing with friends and making new ones, and I left with… mixed feelings.
