I'M INSTALLING VMC: Here's My Secret to a Healthy HOME Hi everyone! In this video, I'll take you directly to the construction site, where we're installing the controlled mechanical ventilation (CMV) system in my house under renovation. I'll show you how we're designing everything down to the smallest detail, from the ductwork running through each room to the placement of the vents, to ensure perfect air quality and optimize the home's energy consumption. Design is crucial: it's not just about randomly placing vents, but also studying the best path to integrate the system with other systems, from heating to home automation. I chose Cappellotto as my ventilation system, an advanced technology that keeps the air clean and fresh efficiently and quietly. With a large window in the living room that lets in solar heat in the winter, for example, we can harness this natural energy source and distribute it throughout the house, while in the summer we have automatic shades to prevent overheating. For the summer, the VMC is designed to dehumidify without introducing hot outside air, minimizing humidity and the risk of mold in the most humid rooms like the basement. Upstairs, cooling occurs via ceiling ducts, while in the kitchen I installed a floor-mounted fan coil system, perfect for natural air exchange that keeps the space cool and comfortable. On the lower level, where we have direct access to the garden, the system is designed for flexibility: in the warmer months, we can simply ventilate naturally, optimizing energy efficiency. For common areas like the living room, however, I chose a different solution with Alpac monoblocks integrated into the windows, which ensure fresh air and comfort without taking up additional space. In short, the goal of this system is to maximize comfort and efficiency by automatically regulating the home's microclimate and maintaining optimal humidity levels. Every choice is designed for an efficient, thermally insulated, and comfortable home year-round.
