The Greatest PS2 Game Nobody Cares About

Bumpy Trot!! Bumpy Trot, also called Steambot Chronicles in the west, is a lot of things that traditionally pass as clickbait. It's absolutely one of the most underrated, unsung PS2 rpgs ever produced. As far as I'm concerned, it's a masterclass in narrative-mechanical cohesion. It's one of the greatest video games I've played, even if it doesn't rate high numerically, and it's world is surprisingly deep and nuanced. It's also a goofy action title where you slap other bipedal cars with your big old weaponized gas-chugging proto-mech. Steambot Chronicles means a lot to me - I've been eyeballing it since 2015, before I started YouTube, and I'm glad to finally do something for the property. There may never be another Steambot anything again, but I can at least spread the word. It's an incredible game - complicated and fascinating and in a lot of ways you wouldn't expect from such a cutesy, fairly lowkey PS2 game. It was doomed by its launch, running up against all-time titles at the end of an era, but the Bumpy Trot story gets even worse.
