The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has issued the revised rates under the provisions of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order (DPCO), 2013. The medicines covered under the new pricing mechanism include treatments for hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, HIV, eye infections and cancer. According to the government, the decision aims to make essential medicines more affordable and accessible for patients across the country. Among the medicines included in the list are Amlodipine, Bisoprolol and Telmisartan for hypertension treatment, while Nepafenac and Moxifloxacin eye drops have also been brought under price regulation. The list also includes Tenecteplase injection used in heart attack treatment. Retailers have been instructed to display price lists prominently, and strict action will be taken against overcharging beyond the notified prices.
