The Legend of Blondie: Street Superstar of The South Bronx
Before The South Bronx became infamous for hustlers, drug lords, and gangsters, one young Puerto Rican street legend rose from the projects to claim his name in history. His name was Carlos “Blondie” Acosta — known on the streets simply as Blondie. Growing up between The Millbrook and Diego Beekman housing projects, Blondie became one of the earliest and most feared figures in the South Bronx underworld. As a member of the Cypress Boys street gang, he built a reputation as a ruthless heroin and cocaine dealer, using his crew to muscle control over drug turf until he ruled Cypress Avenue. From there, Blondie set his sights on 139th and Brook Avenue — the heart of one of the most profitable drug corners in The South Bronx. There was where he ran a powerful heroin brand known as Airborn and earned tremendous profits. This is the untold story of Blondie, a street superstar who helped define the early days of The South Bronx’s criminal empire
