Setsubun, Sunday, February 2, 2025 The 12th Fujisawa Children's Bean Throwing Ceremony was held at Shirahata Shrine! The Fujisawa Children's Bean Throwing Ceremony has grown into a festival-level event. It's a wonderful community-based event, supported by volunteers from the local community who pool their resources and efforts, and the shrine's support. This time, it was held on a Sunday, so we expected many children to come and play! Unfortunately, it rained on the day, but we changed the event from the usual two sessions, morning and afternoon, to a system where participants checked in, received a measuring box, and then took turns throwing beans in front of the main shrine. By 3:00 PM, approximately 1,200 people participated, far exceeding our expectations. Despite the rain, the children enthusiastically threw beans and defeated demons! Next year's Setsubun will also be held on a weekday, Tuesday, February 3rd! Want to try being the demon? We're always looking for volunteers!
