I wasn’t supposed to put this thing on my kayak… but here we are. 😎 The Lowrance Recon isn’t designed for kayaks, and the company straight-up told me not to cut the shaft down to size. The boat shop called, Lowrance said no, warranty voided… so naturally, I did what any sane kayak angler would do...I did it anyway. And let me tell you—this motor absolutely blew me away. • Cruising Speed: 5.6–5.7 mph on a 24V system • Power: 80 lbs of thrust, only pulling 36–37 amps at top speed • Weight: Faster than my old Minn Kota PowerDrive and way lighter than the Xi5 I ran before. This is hands down the best trolling motor I’ve ever used on a kayak. Period.
