The game was played Thursday at Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield, Indiana. It was a fun in-state matchup too, with the Shockwaves roster featuring some fellow Fishers High School players for Joni Oliver and Elizabeth Hammond. This is a large regional event. The 16U division alone has 27 pools with six teams each, 162 teams total, bringing in top travel softball competition from across the Midwest. The Shockwaves struck first in the second inning when Lexi Kellum doubled home two runs. The Lady Dukes answered in the top of the third with singles from Ava Richardson, Natalie McKain, and Ella Schaub to take a 4-2 lead. The Shockwaves came right back in the bottom half, with Kaylee Summers singling in a run and Kensley Roberts tripling home two to go up 5-4. Then came the fourth inning. The Lady Dukes sent the lineup around and scored nine runs. Lexi Martin, Ava Richardson, Ella Schaub, and Julie Garrison all had RBI singles. Natalie McKain tripled home two, Joni Oliver doubled in a run, and Izzy Kohlstaedt added a sacrifice fly. McKain finished with four RBI on two hits, including a two-run single in the third and the two-run triple in the fourth. Tessa Hammons started in the circle, allowing one hit and two runs over one and two-thirds innings with two strikeouts. Izzy Kohlstaedt earned the win in relief, giving up four hits and three runs over two and one-third innings. Elli Lindvall took the loss for the Shockwaves. The Lady Dukes racked up 14 hits. McKain, Richardson, Garrison, Martin, and Schaub each had two. The defense was spotless again with zero errors, and McKain handled a team-high three chances in the field.
