銀座にリアルコーヒー沼が出現！【GINZA COFFEE FESTIVAL 2026】

Hello everyone! This is Coffee Journalist Yasuzo Iwasaki. We've announced a coffee festival where you can fully experience Japan's coffee culture from February 16th to February 23rd, 2026! It's called "GINZA COFFEE FESTIVAL 2026." Yasuzo's overall contextual supervision, Satoshi Kasuya's cutting-edge specialty curation, and our very own Shun Ogihara's 90°C-plus energy will combine to create an unprecedented, deep, and chaotic coffee festival where the classic and the avant-garde blend together. ~The origins of Japanese coffee culture lie in Ginza~ While coffee consumption was limited in places like Nagasaki's Dejima and during the late Edo period and early Meiji period, it wasn't until the late Meiji period that coffee in Japan truly took off. The setting for this was Tokyo's Ginza district. Starting in 1911, a series of salon-style cafes opened in Ginza, spreading coffee consumption throughout Japan. After that, just after the end of the war, the passion of many pioneers led to the development of unique coffee substitutes, aging techniques, and ingenuity in roasting and brewing. The unique culture of home roasters and coffee shops grew at an incredible pace, peaking in 1981. The first Starbucks in Japan then arrived in Ginza in 1996. Even today, Ginza is home to Rumble, the mecca of classic coffee shops, and a number of more traditional coffee shops, mixed with cafes spearheading new trends like Glitch and Gesharie, making it a coffee town rare even on a global scale. Mitsukoshi, located at the 4-Chome intersection in Ginza, has finally decided to take the plunge and start hosting a coffee festival. Rather than traditional events that focus primarily on selling coffee beans, we have carefully considered the format of a new coffee festival that allows people to experience coffee culture and historical context, and conveys Japan's rich and diverse sensibility to the world. Many of Japan's most famous shops, who share this concept, will be lined up inside the venue, packed full of shops. Purchase a tasting ticket and sample a variety of coffees! Then, experience the pinnacle of artisan craftsmanship at the flannel drip counter and Italian bar zone. Of course, you'll also be able to get your hands on limited edition beans from super popular shops. An information center will be set up inside the venue, featuring Yasuzo & Ogihara, to provide commentary and guidance on the culture within the venue. We look forward to seeing you there.
