(Animenz arr.) Ichiban no Takaramono / 一番の宝物 - Angel Beats! OST [Piano] / LiSA

With the first video of 2023, I present to you one of the most tear-jerking songs ever in anime history - Ichiban no Takaramono. The song holds a special place in my heart, played in Angel Beats! in episodes 10 and 13, with the passing on of Yui and the graduation of Kanade, I've shed a few tears while LiSa's voice was echoing in the background. About the cover: (Practice: 3 hours) The cover is more so emphasized on the technique and I think there could be played in a few variations. I tried my best to play the opening/intro part softly to allow the contrast of LiSA's loud voice in the chorus. I think having this contrast (personally) is vital as it could capture the outbreak of her voice and link with Angel Beats!' storyline - Realizing afterlife, joining clans, fighting, passing away, infiltrated, winning. There's one thing I greatly appreciate: VSL's sound PERFECTLY capture's LiSA's voice, especially in the chorus. The loud and bright right hand / upper register has had me emotionally filled while playing. I wish you could see my head movement in the video, but I was FULLY into the performance, I felt the sadistic atmosphere and was flowed into it. I could truly feel LiSA's voice while playing. Animenz's ver. is a bit different. He's added a bridge section at 3:10. The scale bit was not originally from Yui's final version but I think it adds a more sadistic flow. Starting from 3:17, the A major scale extending to 3 octaves ending in a high A-D-C# and after that quickly having a run down back to E4 further signifies how depressing and heartbreaking the song could be. 3:48 is the highlight of the song. The sudden semitone key change from A maj to Bb major is flawless, a higher register of LiSA's voice means more power and emphasis, and that drives the chorus to a whole new level. The outcry, the sorrow, the feels all coming to an abrupt burst before the arrangement ends with a soft, mellow tone with a slow tempo. The entire arrangement itself is more than notes, it's a story. A journey of the afterlife, and ending the series on a depressing realization from a confession attempt. I'll try my best to publish the next video very soon, stay tuned!
