The game is developed by a small group called The Funkin' Crew Inc., which consists primarily of Cameron "ninjamuffin99" Taylor, David "PhantomArcade" Brown, Isaac "Kawai Sprite" Garcia, and evilsk8r. The game is also open-source. It shares some gameplay features with Dance Dance Revolution, PaRappa the Rapper, and the "Dance Contest" minigame from Club Penguin, and borrows aesthetic influences from Flash games. BFDI - WHAT IS IT ABOUT?: Battle for Dream Island (2010–present, abbreviated BFDI) is an animated web series on YouTube created by jacknjellify, a channel owned by Cary and Michael Huang. The web series features anthropomorphic objects competing in a series of contests for a prize. After each contest, the viewers are invited to vote for or against someone being eliminated the next episode. The series inspired a genre of animated web series known as "object shows". LEARNING WITH PIBBY - WHAT IS IT ABOUT?: Pibby (Also known as Learning With Pibby and Learning With Pibby: Apocalypse) is a proof-of-concept short aired on the official Adult Swim YouTube Channel on October 30, 2021. It follows Pibby, a character from a fictional educational show, who is forced to cross a multiverse of Warner Bros. shows, chased by an unknown, glitchy darkness with the ability to infect and control characters it touches. Ever since the upload of the short, it quickly became famous and viral on Youtube, with many fans asking for a full series for the character.
