Effective national efforts in updating and aligning urban and infrastructure planning are fundamental to Syria’s sustainable reconstruction trajectory. This session explored how integrated planning across urban development, transportation, and utilities can foster resilient, interconnected, and future-oriented communities. Key emphasis was placed on institutional coordination, long-term strategic visioning, and the harmonious balance of heritage preservation with modernisation to establish a cohesive national growth strategy that supports inclusive development over the coming decades. Specific attention was dedicated to outlining approaches to residential projects that are both affordable for returning citizens and inclusive for individuals with special needs, ensuring that reconstruction promotes accessibility, dignity, and equal opportunity for all segments of society.
