Today we look at Operation Sabre, known as Misty FAC, during the Vietnam war. 157 elite F-100 Super Sabre pilots took part in daring missions to travel the Ho Chi Mihn trail at low level to find and mark targets by eye for bombers to attack. Losses were enormous with more than 28% of the pilots being shot down. We run our own mist FAC with F-100s and F-4 Phantoms in DCS to find out what challenges the legendary Misty FAC pilots must have faced.
