How did Chicken 65 get its name? | BBC News India

Chicken 65 is one of India’s most loved fried chicken dishes. Served alongside biryani or enjoyed on its own, it has become a street food favourite across the country. But why is it called Chicken 65? Food writer Soity Banerjee explains the many theories behind the name, as we trace its origins back to Buhari Hotel in Chennai, where the dish was first created. Once born in a royal kitchen, Chicken 65 has gone on to win hearts as a staple of Indian street food — with each cook adding their own twist to the recipe.
