Do you want to install hot water for your campervan but don't know the best option? I'll explain all the hot water installation options for your camper, step by step. From the cheapest options, like a portable solar shower, to intermediate options, like a homemade camper boiler or a 12V electric boiler, or the best option, which is to install an Autoterm stationary heater along with a 9L Pundmann boiler. We've had hot water in all our vans, including our campervan. When we were living the vanlife in Australia, we tried creating a homemade campervan water heater using a resistor, but it didn't work very well. We also created a cheap system to get hot water inside our campervan, using a PVC pipe. This worked well, but since it's a solar shower, it depends on the sun, so it wasn't the most efficient option. And now that we've moved to Spain and want to start a vanlife here, we decided to try something different. That's why, for this Ford Transit van, we've decided to collaborate with Pundmann, a German company that sells 12V and 220V water heaters (boilers) for your camper van or motorhome. They sell installation kits to keep your water hot in your camper van. They include a 2K Autoterm stationary heater, a 9L camper boiler, and all the necessary wiring for installation. Although it's by far the most expensive option and a bit complicated to install, it's undoubtedly the best option since it's heated using the hot air from the stationary heater, which comes from the camper van's diesel. The Autoterm brand of van heater is the cheapest legal stationary heater.
