The REAL Reason People Keep Going Missing in the National Parks

In the last four and a half years, I’ve covered dozens of missing persons cases on this channel - and if there’s one thing I’ve learned as a result, it’s that the vast majority of “mysterious disappearances” are largely the result of people just making bad decisions. Yes, there are a good number of stories where it looks like foul play, and a few have left me genuinely baffled, but the fact of the matter is that in the vast majority of cases, the disappearance was completely avoidable. While it might seem like common sense to stay on the trail, the fact of the matter is that people who should and do know better than to do so, end up doing it anyway. It’s easy to sit at home and judge, but time after time, I find myself reading stories of both casual trail hikers and experienced outdoorsmen doing it anyway. So, if you’re looking to avoid getting lost, the question you should ask isn’t “how could someone be so stupid,” but rather “how can I prepare myself to resist whatever force drives people to do these things.” Welcome back to The Lore Lodge… Subscribe on Patreon to support The Lore Lodge for just $1 per month!   / thelorelodge   List of Visual Sources - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1V...
