Description provided by the studio. The house is located in a traditional neighborhood of Cali, on a mid-block lot of 291 m2. The original construction dates back to 1965, a time when the front yard above the garage typology was permitted in the city's hillside neighborhoods, as seen throughout the block in the other existing buildings. The new owners decided to remodel the house while preserving this typology, which allows for an approach and access via an ascending staircase, and which responds to the desire to surprise the visitor. Access to the main floor is from the terrace/front yard and garage roof, and once across the threshold, one circulates through the social spaces, passing through a small interior courtyard with a reflecting pool, and culminating in a patio at the end that serves as a solarium. The reference to patios is vital, as they represent the house's contained world, connecting it to the sky, water, nature, and sun. Inside, a series of black metal porticos, which replaced the demolished structural walls to add dynamism to the interior space, are displayed boldly and become part of the formal language.
