Crookhaven Village Life - Filmed by Billy O'Sullivan

Billy O'Sullivan from O'Sullivan's Bar Crookhaven received a Super 8 Camera from Tim Kingston circa 1967-68. He documented a mixture of village life on this 1 hour and 20 minutes reel. In no particular order there are fantastic videos of the great storm of 71, the village rescuing Newman's Boat across the fields by Galleycove. The huge wild salmon catches the fishermen were catching at the time. At a hour and 15 minutes approximately there is about 10 minutes of footage on the Goleen races with loads and loads of young versions of very familiar local faces. Patrick Mulchone was presented a dusty box of films 'De Fillums' in 2019 by Der & Linda, and he painstakingly viewed them on a manual viewer, cataloging them and sorting them into three areas 'Village Life' (this reel), 'Family Life' & Regatta. We sent them off to Galway to be cleaned restored and digitised. Given that neither Tim or Patrick are alive today, They never got to see these in their entirety, it's fitting that they contributed to such a massive time capsule for us all to enjoy.
