Understanding Rudimental Rolls | Rudimental Drumming

Understanding Measured Rolls | Snare Drum Technique https://www.jonathancurtis.co.uk In this video, I take a conceptual and practical look at the use of measured rolls within rudimental drumming. Common examples of this are the 5-, 7-, and 9-storke rolls, comprising a determinate number of double strokes and an accent. Part of learning the rudimental vocabulary involves recognising and understanding these rolls in the repertoire. In this video, I take an introductory look at how to play the basic rolls, before exploring the notational concept that allows us to derive exactly what to play when we encounter them in the notation.
