R-Type — Piano medley

The World Government tried to keep the fact-finding mission to Galaxy XIX kept under wraps. Nonetheless, information gathered from the mission was leaked to the press and the public's most dreaded suspicions were confirmed. Extra-terrestrial mutants from the Bydo Empire were consolidating their forces and would soon launch an all-out attack on Earth. Now it's up to Gabb to stop thie threat. (Synopsis adapted from the R-Type DX game manual on Game Boy Color). Music from the games R-Type and Super R-type, developed by Irem and released respectively in 1987 on Arcade (then adapted on different platforms) and in 1991 on Super Nintendo. The arrangements of the music from the first R-Type are mainly based on the Game Boy and Arcade versions of the game. The track "Solo Sortie" can be heard in the first level of the game Super R-Type. However, since this level only lasts one minute and forty-five seconds before the boss fight begins, it is not possible to hear in-game the whole piece which lasts two minutes and fifty-six seconds. It is, however, possible to listen to it in its entirety in the game's initial menu. Although the track "Counter Attack" is a theme from R-Type 2, the arrangement of this medley is based on the version heard in the game Super R-Type: "Counterattack '91".
