He Saw God on a Throne and Never Recovered — The Story of Isaiah, Explained

You know his words. You've heard them sung at Christmas — "Unto us a child is born." You've heard them read at funerals — "By his stripes we are healed." But you probably couldn't tell me a single thing about the man who wrote them. His name was Isaiah. And this is not a tour of his sixty-six chapters. This is the story of the man — the husband, the father, the royal advisor, the target. The one who walked into the temple the year a king died, saw the Lord high and lifted up, and never quite recovered from it. He stood in front of rulers who could have killed him with a word and told them they were wrong, to their faces. He outlasted four kings of Judah. He named his own children after prophecies and walked them through the streets as living sermons. He stripped off his clothes and walked barefoot for three years to break a nation's false hope. And when an empire surrounded Jerusalem and screamed threats over the wall, it was his door the king knocked on.
