Ich dachte, ich wäre gut vorbereitet – nach dieser Tour weiß ich es besser.
🥾 What really remains after a multi-day hike – besides the miles? In this video, I look back on my multi-day hike from Speyer to Trier and draw an honest conclusion. This video also marks the start of a new series. In the future, I want to view trekking not as a collection of individual products, but as a functioning, integrated system. Because in the end, it's not the most expensive or lightest equipment that determines the success of a trip – but how the person, the gear, the planning, and the experience all work together. 🎯 That's exactly what this video is about. For me, equipment, backpack weight, shoes, and clothing are just as interconnected as body type, fitness, age, recovery, mental strength, planning, and the conditions along the way. The person isn't just a user of the equipment – but a crucial part of the system. At 55 years old and after many years without regular endurance training, this hike showed me what my body is still capable of – but also where its limits lie and which decisions I would make differently today. My feet, in particular, became an important learning experience. I'll be talking about: 🧠 what worked well, ⚙️ what didn't, 🔄 and what changes I'll be making on my next multi-day trip. 💡 My most important takeaway: It's not the supposedly best single product that matters. A multi-day trip works well when the person, their equipment, their physical fitness, their experience, and their planning all come together as a cohesive system. Perhaps this video will inspire some of you to get back on the trail – regardless of age. Step by step. ⏱️ Chapters 00:00 Intro & Tour Recap 03:00 Humans as Part of the System 16:20 Tent System 18:00 Backpack System 21:00 Sleep System & Recovery 24:50 Shoes, Feet & Socks 27:35 Rain Gear 31:00 What I'll Do Differently in the Future ⚠️ Small Note Unfortunately, I only noticed very late that the autofocus wasn't working properly in some of the shots. Please excuse this. 👍 Please note: The channel is still in its early stages.
