Wie Patricia Kelly auf Mallorca ein altes Häuschen zu ihrem Herzensort gemacht hat | ARD Room Tour
Patricia Kelly, a member of the legendary Kelly Family and still a singer and songwriter today, has a special love for Spain—no wonder, since she was born there and spent her early years there. Her connection to Spanish culture is also evident in her historic vacation home on Mallorca, which she purchased in 2017 together with her husband Denis. With their little cottage, the “Casita,” the couple fulfilled their dream of a completely private retreat that not only exudes Mediterranean charm but also keeps Patricia’s childhood memories alive. The small house is over 100 years old and a listed building. Patricia and Denis have renovated and furnished it with great attention to detail. As soon as you step inside, it becomes clear: here, coziness meets authenticity. Instead of a classic hallway, there is a cleverly designed entryway with a huge antique wooden cabinet and a small coat rack that blend harmoniously into the living room. A special highlight of the cottage are the exposed stone walls made of “Marès,” a natural stone typical of the Balearic Islands. Its cappuccino-brown to white color scheme lends the rooms a warm, inviting atmosphere. For Patricia Kelly, the stone walls evoke memories of her childhood, so she made a conscious effort not to plaster them over—a tribute to the island’s traditional architecture. The home’s interior design is also a declaration of love for Mallorca. Fabrics crafted by local weavers, hand-sewn pillows and curtains, and lamps made from natural plant fibers define the cozy atmosphere. Raffia, straw, and other natural materials run like a common thread through the decor, emphasizing its authentic character. Patricia’s love for old, handmade furniture is also reflected in her vacation home—a passion she shares with her father. The large dining room table, which seats up to eight people, is particularly important to Patricia and Denis. This is where they laugh, eat, and talk—in keeping with the Kelly family’s tradition of togetherness. Another highlight of the cottage is the fireplace, which reminds Patricia of the fireplaces from her childhood, where the family loved to gather. Despite these personal design elements, there was also room for compromise: While Patricia originally preferred a hardwood floor, Denis and the sons prevailed with laminate tiles. Yet even these, with their off-white finish, fit perfectly into the bright rooms. The Mallorcan vacation home of Patricia Kelly, her husband, and their two sons is far more than just a vacation retreat. It is a place that reflects warmth, togetherness, and the joy of shared memories—in keeping with Patricia Kelly’s philosophy of life. 00:24 Hallway 00:59 Patricia's favorite piece 01:46 Hat collection 02:36 Dining room 06:18 Patricia's medical history 07:07 Kitchen 09:40 Guest bathroom 10:30 Living room 11:39 Stairs 12:27 Study #KellyFamily #Mallorca #ARDRoomTour A film by Iris Bettray and Katja Heinrichs (writer), Lukas Remmel (camera), Jonas Pardeyke (camera), and Volker Steiger (editor).
