When she was 30, Nina Fuchs was drugged and raped. But the real nightmare only began afterward, she says—when she tried to get justice. Even when she filed her report the very next day, the police made it clear that she could expect not only no sympathy, but that they simply didn't believe her—despite the fact that clear DNA evidence linking her to the perpetrator was found. This pattern continued throughout the following years, across the entire legal process, culminating in the rejection of her appeal to the Federal Constitutional Court. Nevertheless, Nina continues to fight—for all people who are victims of sexual violence. Because her case, she says, is not an unfortunate isolated incident—but rather the norm in Germany.
