ALL ABOUT THE SALAR DE UYUNI In this super special program, we talk about the impressive Salar de Uyuni, the largest salt flat in the world, located in Bolivia. EXPEDITION It's a 3-day trip! We left the city of Uyuni and crossed the desert in a 4WD vehicle with the Al Extremo agency. We visited the train cemetery, went to lagoons and viewpoints, observed volcanoes, the famous geysers, the stone tree, the cactus island, and even relaxed in the hot springs. DAY 1 Train Cemetery Salt Production Dakar Monument and Salt Hotel Flags Giant Cactus Inti Labyrinth DAY 2 Chiguana Salt Flat Ollague Volcano Cañapa Lagoon Stone Tree Hedionda Lagoon DAY 3 Geysers Hot Springs ACCOMMODATION Each day we sleep in a different hotel. There are options for private or shared rooms and bathrooms. This makes a difference in the tour price. All daily rates and meals are included. WHAT TO BRING 1.5 liters of mineral water per person per day. Cereal bar (to stave off hunger, but don't worry, the meals are generous), sunscreen, and lip balm. Pack as little clothing as possible, including warm clothing (coat, gloves, hat, outerwear), as it can be quite cold at times. We only took a small backpack with us in the car. Larger suitcases and backpacks go in the luggage compartment, which is bagged and only unpacked upon arrival at the hotel (for sleeping). Bring swimwear for the hot springs, and a towel that dries quickly, as well as personal hygiene items like toilet paper. Some hotels don't have them. IS THERE POWER? The hotel has power, running water, and hot water. In some, only the use of outlets is rationed, so ask about charging your cell phone. CELL SIGNAL Even with a local SIM card, there's no signal in most places. Wi-Fi is only available at the hotel and in some restaurants.
