On a boat in the middle of Hurricane Ike
Short footage from a crew of four on a dive boat in upper Galveston Bay during Hurricane Ike land fall. The reason the boat was maned during the storm was to get it away from the dock/land. Boats that are docked next to land have a tendency to be washed ashore during the onslaught of a hurricane. The boat was relocated 1.5 miles away from shore. With over 1000 lbs of anchor off the bow to steady the boat, it was still dragged 1/4 mile towards shore. Since the boat was saved full crew and dive team were able head back out to help in clean up and repairs in the Gulf with in a week.
