The video ends with a look and listen to the excellent Rock Choir. roddymckoutdoors White Cart Way Walks are cook-trekking walkabouts around the White Cart Water wherein the Kingfisher waymarked White Cart Way follows a four-mile path from Pollok House in Pollok Country Park to Linn Park (or vice-versa), essentially connecting the two large Glasgow Parks via various southside significant sites of interest and neighbourhoods. This walk follows the White Cart Way west from the Pollokshaws Railway viaduct entrance and picks up the trail in Pollokshaws. Visitors to the city who want to follow this particular route should get a First Bus number 3 ( NOT the McGills bus) and alight at the first bus stop in Shawbridge Street opposite the Library (that’s the stop after Lidl). Cross the road and head down Shawbridge Street taking a right turn just at the Bridge to follow the White Cart Water then cross Pollokshaws Road at the traffic lights and enter the Country Park under the railway viaduct. Pollok Park is Glasgow's largest park and the only Country Park within Glasgow. Its extensive woodlands contain various wooden sculptures and along with gardens, provide a quiet sanctuary for both visitors and wildlife. Ravens, Wood Pigeons and Magpies are easily spotted. Likewise, squirrels and the famous herd of Pollok cattle and furthermore, fungi and wild flowers in season. Note: A free bus service operates from just under the viaduct - at the bus stop on the L in Pollok Avenue - to the Burrell. The Park is rich in rural history formerly being part of the Old Pollok Estate and ancestral home to the Maxwell Family. It is also home to the world famous Burrell Collection (free entry), Pollok House fronted by Stone Lions, the old Polloktoun Bridge, Pollok Pond, the Pollok Highland Cattle, ‘Dinasaur Bones’ and Hobbiton as well as B listed buildings beside the weir. At the free to enter Burrell, a must visit on each WCW walk, each room is bathed in light and highlights the famous Burrell collection, full of Egyptian sculptures, Chinese ceramics and jewels from Ancient Greece. The Park is also host to various memorials including “Scotland’s Covid Memorial” “Commonwealth Foresters' Memorial” “Scottish Police Dog Memorial” “Murphy's Army Purple Poppy Campaign”memorial bench “NETHER POLLOK tenants and staff who served” As well as private indiviual memorial placques. Furthermore, Pollok Country Park is reputedly haunted, particularly around the woods at Pollok House! “The Witch's Wood: Following accusations of witchcraft by servant Janet Douglas in the 1670s, six people were executed, leading to legends that the area is haunted by witches.” 👻 Notable People from or connected to nearby Pollokshaws include: Frankie Boyle: Comedian.
