The President of Belarus attended the New Year's Youth Ball at the Palace of Independence. This year, 335 talented young people participated, including students, cadets, and students awarded special presidential funds, recipients of presidential scholarships, participants in national scientific competitions, winners and laureates of international and national creative competitions, youth projects, diploma winners from international conferences, and representatives of the volunteer movement and the sports industry. The President of Belarus, along with heads of national and local government bodies and ministries, attended the ball as guests of honor. The head of state addressed the New Year's Ball participants with parting words: "Much has been said—at the All-Belarusian People's Assembly and other events: the year, the five-year plan. But as for today, this is a time for concrete action. You've done a wonderful job. You're studying hard. You're successful. This is your foundation for the future. But you have a lot of concrete work ahead of you. And, I repeat, always do these things on time. No lectures. Just my advice. Because new concerns and new tasks will arise, and you haven't completed the old ones. All this will overwhelm you and will remain as heavy baggage and a legacy for all of you. So, do everything on time." Alexander Lukashenko noted that student years are difficult and challenging times for many, as it is during these years that the foundation for life is laid. "So, create concrete actions," the Belarusian leader urged. He hoped that for the ball's participants, this event would not only be a memorable experience, but also a place where they would find new friends or soulmates for the future: "I really want you – talented and intelligent – ​​to find equally talented and intelligent friends here. If possible, for life. I would be only too happy. I wish you a good mood today and success this evening. Dance, love, smile!" Speaking about the ball, Alexander Lukashenko recalled that the tradition of holding such events was born. And having traditions is a sign of a sovereign and independent country. The President emphasized that the traditional New Year's ball in Belarus ultimately turned out to be even better and larger-than-life than the famous Viennese balls. "At the end of the year, we always take stock. And here too. There are no random people here. Every detail is thought out," the Belarusian leader emphasized. "Here are people who have achieved success in their studies, science, culture, and sports. And certainly the most beautiful." According to him, the only debate was whether to reappoint the current Minister of Culture, Ruslan Chernetsky, as the ball's dance master. "But since he is a great professional and expert in all of this, I agreed that the Minister of Culture will continue (as he did before, when he wasn't the Minister of Culture) to lead and organize this wonderful ball," said Alexander Lukashenko. The classical portion of the ball opened with a polonaise performed by debutants. This dance is distinguished by its special solemnity and is considered an integral part of all famous balls. For the young men and women who have spent many days preparing for this magnificent event, this is the most exciting moment – ​​all eyes are on them as they begin the ball, filling the sparkling space of the Independence Palace with beauty and smooth dance movements to the sounds of Pyotr Tchaikovsky's famous "Polonaise" from the opera "Eugene Onegin." The ball's program continued with the most beautiful dance – the waltz. Following the dance master's words, "Everybody waltz!", both debutants and guests of honor rose from their seats and filled the vast space of the Ceremonies Hall. As per tradition, Head of State Alexander Lukashenko also waltzed at the ball. Following the classical program, the free dance portion of the ball began, featuring more familiar modern motifs and compositions. The atmosphere in the hall shifted from strict and solemn to a more relaxed atmosphere, opening up the opportunity for improvisation. Representatives of the younger generation immediately seized the opportunity to approach the Head of State among the dancers, asking for a photo with him or simply shaking his hand. The President warmly interacted with the young people before leaving the hall. At the end of the ball, all participants received New Year's gifts from the Head of State.
