The GTA Protagonist Rockstar Abandoned

On October 26, 2004, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was released, marking the debut of Young Maylay as Carl Johnson, the main protagonist of GTA SA and a member of the Grove Street Families gang. Young Maylay's portrayal of Carl Johnson catapulted his career, thanks in part to DJ Pooh, who was working at Rockstar during that time. However, Young Maylay's relationship with Rockstar eventually ended. It's worth noting that Young Maylay has ties to the 97 East Coast Crips, adding a layer of authenticity to his portrayal of a gang member in the game. Additionally, he was signed to Ice Cube's Lynch Mob Records, which further contributed to his rise in the music industry.
