A look underneath and under the bonnet on a 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric 64kWh

In this video, I look at what is under the bonnet (or hood) in an electric vehicle - in the case, a 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric with the 64kWh battery pack. This is a UK spec car with a heat pump. Most front wheel drive electric cars are the same or very similar. They have an electric motor, reduction gearbox, power electronics, ECUs, cooling and braking systems up front, with the traction battery traction under the floor. The high voltage battery is mounted under the passenger compartment floor, so it sits between the axles in the passenger safety cell.
