High Royds (now Chevin Park): the Lost World of a Victorian Asylum.
Join Aireborough Society member, Clive Woods for an online talk outlining the history of the former High Royds Hospital. This former West Riding lunatic asylum was built in the 1880s and closed in 2003. Much new development has taken place but for many years the Grade II listed historic buildings were neglected leading to theft and vandalism. Although most of the site has now been converted many original features have been lost forever. This special talk is part of this years Heritage Open Days Festival, and this recording will be available to view at your leisure until September 19. Visit www.heritageopendays.org.uk This talk was produced by Leeds Civic Trust.
