DIY desert camo on a Tikka T3 with rattle cans

A solid black rifle is the worst thing you can carry into a coyote stand. This video fixes that — a desert tan camo finish on a Tikka T3 Lite, done with rattle cans and a kitchen sponge for under $30. What I used: Rust-Oleum Camouflage Series: Sand (base coat), Earth Brown (stripes), Deep Forest Green (sponge layer) Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch 2X Ultra Cover — Matte Clear (top coat) Natural sponge cut into pieces Scotch-Brite pad (surface prep) 70% isopropyl alcohol (degreaser) Painter's tape, paper plate, cardboard, gloves The process: Drop the bolt, pull the magazine, remove the action from the stock — always verify it's unloaded first Scuff the stock with Scotch-Brite, wipe down with alcohol Tape off internal stock areas, then apply two coats of Sand base Spray Earth Brown stripes directly from the can Spray Olive Drab onto a paper plate, dab with sponge, press onto stock — overlap the stripes Repeat with Sand sponge layer for depth and randomness Bag the action and scope, spray the barrel with base coat Seal everything with matte clear coat Field test: compared side by side against a solid black object in dry Kansas grass — no contest Rifle shown: Tikka T3 Lite.
