Mayor Chiang Wan-an appeared in the disaster area the following day and distributed NT$10,000 in relief funds. However, he mistakenly gave the money to a resident on the 4th floor who happened to be coming downstairs. The district office later came to collect the money, prompting the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to criticize him for this inappropriate behavior and even urging him to use his mayoral special allowance to cover the cost.
