Serowe, Botswana — The former ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) travelled to the land of the Bangwato to issue an apology to the tribe and its leader, former President Ian Khama. The apology, aimed at addressing years of alleged persecution, was flatly rejected by the community. Residents accused former President Mokgweetsi Masisi and his vice president of being at the center of the abuses, saying reconciliation cannot happen without accountability.
