#singinpills #singer #voice #tilt #larynx #cry #vocalcoach Today I would like to tell you about the laryngeal tilt. In fact, the larynx is a cartilage that can perform two movements, mainly: a vertical one up or down, and a tilting movement in which the thyroid cartilage (in men the Adam's apple) tilts slightly forward. This movement is very important, because it allows to lengthen the vocal cords, which being "hooked" to the thyroid cartilage are thus pulled in an unforced way. This allows us more easily to reach high notes without effort, because we know that the more the vocal cords are stretched, the better they are able to vibrate at high frequencies. To get this benefit we will have to train with crying (sometimes it is called "sob" or "cry" in other methodologies), because by simulating the sound of a voice broken by crying we can facilitate this tilting movement (called thyroid tilt). We can do it with your mouth closed, on different tonal heights, or with free glissati. Then I suggest you practice arpeggios with the phoneme "he", always thinking about crying. If crying does not help you because it leads you to tighten your throat, I recommend that you try to change and look for the internal smile. It must be a bit of a "clumsy" smile, for example try to imitate the yogi bear! The sound is very similar to that produced by crying, but it will help us create more space and release tension. We can then move on to the phoneme "no" looking for an arpeggio on the extension of an octave, maintaining the laryngeal tilt with the cry / smile, always remaining on a soft sound. Finally, always with the phoneme "no"; we can begin to mark the "n" more, gradually increasing in intensity to obtain a more connected sound in mixed voice, thus connecting all the registers with a sound that we will always perceive full.
