“Dirty Old Town” was written by Ewan MacColl in 1949, originally about Salford, England, not Ireland. It later became famous through covers by The Dubliners and especially The Pogues. Metallica did play it live in Dublin during their M72 World Tour at Aviva Stadium on June 21, 2026.
