Comparing Mentimeter & Ahaslides For Capturing Data In Your Classroom
Two great apps, for and student project work that involves data collection, are Mentimeter and Ahaslides. This episode takes a deep dive into the use of 'small data' in your learning design using these two apps. Both of these platforms really help deliver on three of the five Ignite EdTech Principles: Learning First, Creation over Consumption and a Collaboration Bias. We take a look at how these platforms work, what the learning opportunities are and how they can be used, especially through the perspectives of two powerful models: AGES and SAMR. A brief outline of the episode is: Framing SAMR and AGES Models Introducing ‘Small Data’ for classrooms Introducing the two main platforms - Mentimeter and Ahaslides Exploring the basic design and use case Comparing the two platforms Discovering other 'apps' close in functionality, including a surprise app for Windows/PowerPoint users Platforms mentioned in the session: https://www.mentimeter.com/ https://ahaslides.com/ https://www.classpoint.io/ This podcast also exists as a video on Youtube, and more importantly, as a 'hybrid' podcast-course on the Ignite EdTech Learning Platform. On this learning platform we can do so much more, including the adding of extra learning resources (such as the SAMR and AGES models), downloadable guides and connecting with a social learning community.
