Transitioning my Toddler off the Binky
River is 18 months old, and I finally took him off of his binky. I knew it was time because of a few reasons: 1. It was starting to mess up his teeth. I know studies have shown that kids can have it up to 4 years old without causing permanent damage, but it wasn't something that I wanted to risk. 2. It was causing delays in his speech. Since he had his binky in his mouth all the time, he wouldn't communicate with words. Instead he was using just actions and whines. 3. It was making his tantrums so much worse. Every time that he would feel upset, or angry, or frustrated, instead of addressing the root of the problem, he would just go straight to the binky. And It was making it very difficult for me to work with him through the tantrums. So I made my plan for how I was going to handle the transition, and we went for it! It was tough In the moment, but now that we have all adjusted, we are all so much better and happier without it!!
