Incredible Drill Anything Conductive EDM
Carl Sommer, president of Reliable EDM, demonstrates the incredible capabilities of drilling anything conductive with small hole electrical discharge machining. Sommer proves that electrodes for small hole EDM never touch parts being machined. He demonstrates this by EDMing a hole through an unclamped, 1/4” steel plate. To further demonstrate the uniqueness of small hole EDM, a .010” electrode bores a hole through close to the edge of a 3/4” ball bearing, and a hole is bored through a carbide tool bit. Also electrodes up to 36” long are used to drill holes, and to remove broken bolts, drills, and taps.
