The cattle is unique, as it is the first breed of meat productivity bred in modern Russia. The VolgoDonAgro enterprise is a breeding reproducer for this breed. At the time of filming, the total livestock was 300 heads, of which 170 heads were breeding stock. ► In total, the enterprise contains 800 heads of cattle of two directions: dairy and beef. ► We will remind you that the Russian polled was obtained by complex crossing of bulls of the Abreeding Angus breed and heifers of the Kalmyk breed. In appearance, the breed is very similar to Angus, but in its adaptive qualities, due to the influx of Kalmyk cows, it is much superior to the latter. ► The grazing period on the farm begins in May and lasts until the end of October. During this period, without the use of additional feeding, young animals give an average weight gain of about 900 grams per day. During stall maintenance in winter, hay and forage are added to the diet, so the average weight gain is about 1000-1100 grams per day. ► The total area of agricultural land is 20 thousand hectares, of which 18 thousand are arable land and 2 thousand hectares for feeding cattle. Irrigated fields are about 800 hectares. At the time of filming, the plan for forage procurement was 120% fulfilled. Drinking water is taken from the Volgodonsk Canal using pumping stations. ► Despite the fact that the Russian polled breed was registered in 2007, work on it, including on this farm, does not stop. Now all selection work on it is aimed at preserving the breed and its further improvement. ► Most of the heifers remain at the enterprise for reproduction, but some are sold at the request of buyers. ► Newborn calves of the Russian polled have a weight of only about 15-20 kg, which allows cows to calve without any problems.
