Professional golfer. Manga writer. Head of Sakata Junior Golf Academy. Born October 11, 1947, in Kumamoto Prefecture. After dropping out of Kyoto University, he joined the Japan Self-Defense Forces in 1969 and was discharged in 1971 upon completion of his term. From the same year, he underwent training at Kanuma Country Club in Tochigi Prefecture, and in 1975 passed the Japan Professional Golf Association professional test. He began writing while competing in tournaments. In 1991, he began serializing "Kaze no Daichi" (illustrated by Kazama Eiji) in "Big Comic Original" (Shogakukan), and in 1993 won the 39th Shogakukan Manga Award in the Youth/General category. Other works include "Hikari no Sora" (illustrated by Kazama Eiji), "Naoko" (illustrated by Nakahara Yu), "DAN DOH!!" (illustrated by Banjo Daichi), "Daichi no Ko Series" (illustrated by Kazama Eiji), and "GOLF Practice Haters, Read This!"
