Parliamentary Sports Committee Inspects Ongoing Rehabilitation Works at National Stadium

The Parliamentary Committee on Sports, in partnership with the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Ministry of Sports, on Thursday, 25th June 2026, conducted a joint inspection of the ongoing rehabilitation works at the Siaka Stevens National Stadium in Freetown. The oversight visit, chaired by Hon. Racheal Mariatu Sesay Pessima, was aimed at assessing the level of progress made so far by the Chinese contractors tasked with upgrading the country’s main sporting facility. Speaking during the tour, Hon. Pessima said Parliament has a constitutional duty to monitor public projects and ensure value for money in the use of public funds. She described the National Stadium as a symbol of national pride, the home of Leone Stars, and a key hub for youth development.
