In our meeting with Sheikh Sulaiman Al-Ruhaili, Imam and Khateeb of Quba Mosque, he began his journey with us by discussing Tawhid (Islamic monotheism), its divisions, and its importance, as well as the position of those who oppose it. He also addressed whether governance (hakimiyyah) is a division of Tawhid and what its meaning is. He then touched upon the words of Sayyid Qutb on this matter, and Al-Hafiz Ibn Abd Al-Barr. He then discussed the Kharijites' stance and their excommunication of Caliph Ali ibn Abi Talib (may God be pleased with him), and why they excommunicated him. He then addressed hunting in a state of ihram (ritual consecration) and some legal issues, and the impact of a lack of correct understanding of the noble objectives of Sharia on the general public. He also discussed why some imams, such as Ibn Hanbal, Al-Bukhari, and Imam Muhammad ibn Abd Al-Wahhab, are criticized from time to time. He addressed whether saying "I am a Salafi" is correct, what the term "Quranists" means, and whether atheism has become a widespread phenomenon. He then discussed the opinion on institutes that train individuals to refute atheism and atheists. He then touched upon the concept of allegiance to the ruler, and then recounted an incident that happened to him at the airport. He spoke about the principle of bringing about benefits and averting harms, and whether it should be... The ruler has a right of allegiance, and how does a Muslim recognize a learned and pious scholar? From whom should one seek religious rulings? He then concluded his talk by addressing the issue of people's disregard for religious rulings and the importance of offering sincere advice. He then recounted the story of a young man who went to an imam in Medina, but Sheikh Saleh al-Fawzan left him in Riyadh.
