The alleged crash coincided with the 13th night of attacks launched by the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) against Iranian military targets. After reports of the plane crash circulated, the United States did not report any new attacks on Iran until Saturday (July 25, 2026). Finally, on the 13th night of the operation, CENTCOM announced it had launched strikes against several Iranian military targets. US military forces also reportedly fired on a tanker suspected of attempting to breach the blockade of Iranian ports.
