The Beatles-Honey Pie (isolated piano)

Honey Pie was written by Paul McCartney around mid 1968. It was a tribute to the music hall style of music in the 20s and 30s. Recording for the song began on October 1, 1968. Only one take was recorded that day with Paul on piano, George Harrison on a six string bass guitar, John Lennon on electric rhythm guitar, and Ringo Starr on drums. The next day, October 2, Paul recorded his lead vocals and John recorded a lead guitar part. A brief acoustic guitar part was also recorded sometime in these sessions. It is unknown wether John or Paul played it. Producer George Martin arranged and recorded a woodwind part on October 4, reminiscent to a 1920s jazz style. At the end of that October 4 session, Paul added a vocal overdub that is heard on the intro. His vocals were fed into an audio compressor in order to reduce the treble and bass. The sound of an old phonograph record was also added to give his vocals a more authentic sound. To recreate Paul’s piano sound, I used the Module app with the treble set all the way down mixed in the Pianoteq app with the EQ on the preset “soft”. This is all on IOS Honey Pie was released on November 22, 1968 on the Beatles White Album.
