Firefighters quickly reacted as they got a call informing about the fire in Hill of Crosses near Lithuanian city of Siauliai. Fire was quick extinguished in its beginning. Some 10 square kilometres of wooden crosses were burning. ' I think that a cigarette or a candle left burning, or even a glass, could have started the fire. Reasons are not yet know.', said Andrius Asmontas who was among those firefighters who extinguished the fire. The last fire in Hill of Crosses happened in 2006 when some 50 squere kilometres of wooden crosses were destroyed. 'I don't know, probably God saves it', joked firefighter Andrius. Lithuanians started to build wooden crosses on a hill near Siauliai in the middle of XIX centure and later it became a landmark of a country, especially after Soviet regime tried to destroy it several times, but people kept rebuilding it. There are some 200 thousand wooden crosses there.
