In parts of Europe this kind of fire truck is quite popular, well known for being very universal. Known under different names like Pod Carrier, Prime Mover, Container Truck, Hooklift Truck etc, they're basically 2 to 4 axle trucks with a hooklift to load different special equipment pods. What's so genius about this? Well it's quite simple. It takes only one or few trucks for a few or a large range of different containers. Not only does that reduce the running costs like maintenance, insurance etc, but it also reduces the purchase costs. A special type of equipment might be needed only few times a month or year, then it just wouldn't pay out to buy an entire truck for that purpose, and all the other special purposes as well. Thus they buy just one truck to cover several special purposes, making it much more cost efficient. Depending on the department that system is used very differently. Thus some departments even replaced their Heavy Rescue Truck with a heavy rescue container / pod, same with Tankers (Tenders). What are typical kinds of containers / pods?
