How to Recreate Synth Sounds with Waveform Analysis #ravestab #sounddesign
FreePreset: https://oleanshouse.com/producto/free... / oleans_house One thing I’ve always been weirdly obsessed with in music production is audio waveforms. In this video I wanted to show how simply looking closely at the waveform of a sound can tell you an insane amount about how it was made — what type of synthesis is being used, what harmonics are inside the sound, whether there’s filtering, FM synthesis, additive synthesis, distortion, layering, pitch movement and much more. To break this down properly, I picked a classic sound from House the Party by Stressman and tried recreating it from scratch inside Serum just by analyzing the waveform and listening carefully. What starts as a simple sound recreation turns into a pretty deep dive into synthesis, harmonics, oscillators, filters, distortion, FM synthesis, waveform shapes, overtone series and sound design in general. This is the kind of stuff I personally find super fascinating because once you start recognizing patterns visually, sound design becomes way less random. You stop guessing and start understanding why certain sounds behave the way they do. We go through: how to recognize saw waves, square waves and sine waves visually how harmonics appear inside a waveform why filtering changes waveform shapes how additive synthesis creates recognizable patterns how FM synthesis affects wave cycles how distortion changes harmonics how kick drums reveal their pitch envelopes visually why waveform analysis can help recreate sounds faster how overtone relationships work what different synthesis methods “look like” A big part of this video is really about connecting sound design theory with practical music production. Instead of just randomly tweaking knobs in Serum or Ableton, we’re trying to understand what’s actually happening underneath the hood. Even if you already know synthesis basics, I think there are a lot of useful little insights in here for: house music producers deep house producers techno producers electronic music producers sound designers Ableton Live users Serum users anyone interested in synthesis and audio engineering There’s also a pretty fun section where we compare different waveform types directly and look at how things like filtering, unison, FM and distortion physically reshape the waveform. Once you start seeing these relationships, it becomes much easier to reverse engineer sounds from tracks you like. And honestly, one of the coolest things about waveforms is that they often reveal things your ears don’t immediately notice. You can download the Serum preset from the video for free on my website: I’d really appreciate it if you check it out. If you enjoy these more nerdy deep dives into: sound design synthesis waveform analysis house music production Serum tutorials Ableton Live FM synthesis additive synthesis classic house sound recreation audio engineering concepts …there are definitely more videos like this coming soon. Let me know in the comments if there are certain sounds or synthesis topics you’d like me to break down next. #SoundDesign #Serum #AbletonLive #MusicProduction #Synthesis #Waveform #FMSynthesis #AdditiveSynthesis #HouseMusic #DeepHouse #ElectronicMusic #AudioEngineering #ProducerTips #synthtutorial chapters: 00:00 Intro 00:13 Example Sound / Stressman - House The Party 01:01 Waveform Analysis - IdentyShapes & Pattern 03:48 Replicating with additive Synthesis 07:36 Filtering 08:27 Amplitude Modulation 10:26 Waveform Analysis Basics 13:55 Bassdum/Kick Waveform Analysis 16:08 Different Waveshapes 21:30 More Subtractive Synthesis Shapes 24:56 FM Synthesis Shapes 27:09 Distortion Shapes - Tape vs Tube
